However, the commercial Dumpster rental rate might have to go up a bit, Stewart said.
She provided the supervisors with budget packets and they passed a motion to advertise the 2013 proposed budget for public review for 20 days prior to the adoption of the budget, scheduled for the December meeting.
In other news, township engineer Al Vanderpoel told the supervisors the contractor for the sewer project was back on site and hoped to complete “most things” this week.
With the deadline for the state Department of Environmental Protection’s consent order and agreement approaching on Dec. 31, Vanderpoel said he hopes the township will not be facing hefty fines as a result of other area municipalities and the Bradford Sanitary Authority unable to complete their portions.
Bradford Township will shortly be completing the sewer line part of its Act 537 plan, and Vanderpoel will be in contact with Dan Hartle, executive director for the sanitary authority, to see if the two-year extension being sought by the authority will cover all five participant municipalities in the Tuna Valley.
Supervisor Gayle Bauer said she would attend today’s meeting of the sanitary authority to make sure everything works out as planned.
Supervisor Jim Erwin said he wanted to start looking into options for bridge replacements soon so the township would be ready for any repair or replacement projects this spring.
Erwin pointed to a small bridge on Fuller Road in the township which, having holes in its deck, would be a good candidate on which to try and implement a pre-made and transported bridge replacement.
Supervisor chairman Steve Mascho said the pre-made bridges come at a reasonable price and other townships have had success with them. Vanderpoel concurred. Stewart said there is money available to be spent on said project.
The supervisors also passed a motion to authorize the execution of permits and paperwork by Mascho to proceed with a request for an update to the township’s current Act 537 plan to extend sewer lines to four residences on High Street.
One of the residents of those four homes was present at Monday’s meeting and expressed his desire to get hooked on to the sewer. The supervisors said the permitting process and updating the Act 537 plan can take a long time while waiting on action from the DEP, but they are hoping to start the extension next summer.
The four homes would be connected via gravity flow and would not be required to get a grinder pump as is necessary for pressure systems.
Another motion was passed to accept the proposal as submitted to the McKean County Tax Claim Bureau by Kandy Bartholomew to purchase two properties in the township — the owners of which cannot be found. Township code enforcement officer Merle Silvis said one lot has a pile of rubble on it and the other lot has an unlivable structure on it, and having them purchased by someone else would be beneficial to the township garbage dumpster
Finally, the supervisors passed a motion to pay nearly $700 to township solicitor Erika Mills of Stapleford & Byham LLC to finalize litigation payment.
The next scheduled board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 when the budget will be finalized.
